Minnie Dlamini’s wedding dress designer slams Isibaya for ‘stealing’ her design
Asandai has labelled the Isibaya “copycat” version of the dress she made for Minnie as 'mediocre'.

The designer who created Minnie Dlamini’s gorgeous wedding dress is not impressed with Isibaya’s copycat version.
Asanda Madyibi has accused the show’s creators of plagiarism.
Linda Mtoba, who plays Zama, was pictured on-set wearing a similar dress to the one Minnie wore to her traditional ceremony in July last year.
While the design was not an exact match, it does appear to be inspired by Asanda’s dress.
Asanda took to Instagram to post a side-by-side picture of the two dresses, and she is appalled by the Isibaya design.
Speechless! They say imitation is the highest form of flattery! Is this flattering? In the history of south african television production weddings I have never seen such!” captioned the picture.

She also slammed reports that Linda looked as gorgeous as Minnie did at her traditional wedding.
Asanda did not have one nice thing to say about the “unflattering” dress.
Speaking to Tshisa Live, she says she did not give consent for to imitate her design.
“TV is a powerful tool and should be used wisely. This is a loss for me. My design has been watered down and it’s a mediocre attempt to replicate the dress. This is a blatant disrespect for my creativity and they’ve made a mockery of my design,” she told the publication.
If it’s any consolation for the designer, social media users think Asanda’s version is better.
“Fam, if I were designer Asanda Madyibi, I would be less worried about #Isibaya directors’ fluttering imitation of the Minnie Dlamini wedding dress design. That’s because they’ve sadly turned actress Linda Mtoba into a golf peg,” one Twitter user said.
