Minnie Dlamini is feeling the pressure from all sides to become a mom.
The Homeground presenter stopped by Cliff Central this week to talk about her journey to becoming Mrs Jones.
Minnie and TV producer Quinton Jones were married in a lavish ceremony in September last year. Since their big day, the couple are constantly asked when they plan on becoming parents. Minnie says people started asking her the question the day after her wedding.
One of the people who are excited for her to start a family is her mom, Queen.
“My mother was in tears the other day saying she’s not gonna be alive to see her grandchildren. I was like: ‘Excuse me, wait, give me a second to breathe’,” she told Gareth Cliff.
The 27-year-old says TV show bosses are already lining up to secure a deal for the future mom.
“I’m being offered baby shows, like a baby reality show … to document my pregnancy,” she said.
But Minnie says she is not having a baby anytime soon.
“I get broody sometimes, because now I’m at a point in my life where it can happen. I’m very aware of how difficult it is to raise a kid, and I know how hectic my life and lifestyle is right now so I’m not sure if it’s in the cards right now.”
There’s already been speculation in the past that Minnie was pregnant. But the TV personality says it was just “I’m in love” weight gain.
“This whole love thing and getting chubby. I’m not self-conscious about it … I’m not feeling guilty, but the weight gain can like pause a little. You know what the worst part was though? The moment I started gaining weight, that’s when all the pregnancy rumours started. I literally responded to someone, who was like: ‘Minnie, is that a baby on the way?’, so I was like: ‘No, I’m just fat’.”
When Minnie does decide to have children, she says they will grow up in a loving environment.
“I know that my kids will be born in a loving home, with a loving mother and a loving father,” she said.
