The TV personality’s wedding planner reportedly had a tough time getting her to pay a R500 000 wedding bill.
The Sunday World reports that wedding planner Mizana Qata, from Wellseated, was so fed up with Minnie’s lack of payment that she took the matter to MultiChoice, which owns the rights to the Homeground presenter’s wedding.
Minnie apparently told the planner she would be paid through exposure for her services, which according to the publication would be the equivalent of R6-million.
But the planner disputed that that was their agreement.
Sources told the Sunday World that when MultiChoice executive Nkateko Mabaso asked Minnie to produce a contract of the agreement, she could not provide one.
Nkateko reportedly advised her to make payment arrangements. While the company had sole broadcasting rights to the wedding, it was not involved in organising the wedding.
Minnie and her husband, Quinton Jones, allegedly tried to renegotiate with the planner.
“They also asked to renegotiate the bill to a more affordable figure. They said they could only raise R300 000,” a source told the publication.
Mizana confirmed that she had a dispute with Minnie over payment
“We have addressed the matter with her lawyers, urging her to make payment arrangements,” she told the paper.
The wedding planner’s lawyers confirmed that an agreement has been reached. Mizana allegedly accepted a settlement offer from Minnie, but declined to disclose the amount.
Minnie’s publicist Sarit Tomlinson described the allegations as “false and misleading”.
“Minnie has always acted with integrity and ethics in all her business dealings…”
