Rikhado Makhado, better known by his stage name Riky Rick, has taken to Twitter to tell Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema to stop lying to the people. This after Malema on Friday made claims that artists of the Mabala Noise record label, owned by national treasurer of the ANC Youth League Reggie Nkabinde, were being paid R5 million.
Malema made the claims during during a press conference held in Pretoria at the IEC results centre.
Taking to Twitter, Riky Rick said Malema was lying as there was no R5 million he had received from anyone. “Anyone who knows me knows how hard we work for what we have… @Julius_S_Malema included. Don’t ever get it twisted,” he tweeted.
The Fuseg hit maker shares that since he signed with Mabala Noise and Malema’s claims, there are rappers who have been calling the company asking for a deal – “Niggaz are so quick to follow,” he says.
Riky Rick, who performed at the Oppikoppi Festival main stage on Saturday night in Limpopo, says he worked hard to get where he is. The 29-year-old told his followers he had just started with a “normal” job at the age of 25 when his friend Refiloe “Cassper Nyovest” Phoolo pulled him away from his office and told him to work on his music career.
He then moved in with his girlfriend and mother of his son at her flat and got sober. “All I had was R50 and a drum machine. She was paying for everything I needed,” he tweeted.
He further talks about his friendship with Cassper and rapper Okmalumkoolkat, saying they have been through ups and downs and people should not think they can make them hate each other.
“Stay woke, respect people, don’t be jealous, work hard, spread love, praise God, say thank you, be humbled, at least try,” he tweeted.
