Madness in Poppy’s house

Having worked on DJ Fresh’s Fresh Drive show for the past seven years, Ntshongwana is going to be sharing a whole lot more of her personality on the show called Poppy’s house.

“I have a crazy time on radio, I’m hoping my listeners will join in on the madness,” she says. “I really want people to have a great time interacting with the show.”

Asked what sets her apart from other dj’s, Ntshongwana says her point of view is interesting all on its own.

“We’re all different and have something special to offer because we don’t see life in the same way. My approach is unique and that alone sets me apart.”

Ntshongwana fell in love with radio when she was just 10 years old.

Born and raised in the Eastern Cape, Ntshongwana went to Diocesan School for Girls in Grahamstown and later studied Political Science and International Relations at the University of Pretoria. While working as a newsreader for Tuks FM, Ntshongwana was headhunted by 5 FM and became a newsreader on the national station at the age of 21.

“My journey on radio has been amazing. I’ve done everything and I’ve learnt so much. having my own daytime show is a dream come true for me and I’m extremely excited.” Unlike many other radio DJs who frequently move from one radio station to the other, Ntshongwana doesn’t only see herself growing in the radio industry but also with 5FM.

“I’ve worked on radio for eleven years and on 5FM for nine years and I’m honestly living my dream. I work hard and do what needs to be done. I’ll be on 5FM as long as I keep doing that.”

The station’s programme manager Tim Zunckel commented:
