One buyer had a lucky day during their trip to the grocery store this week. A Twitter user shared they took advantage of a mistake pricing of oxtail, which is normally priced double the original price.
The user, by the name of @Pillay_CGLM posted: “Our loss is your gain’ said the butcher when I showed him the packs of oxtail priced as ox liver. So I bought the whole shelf.”
The post quickly went viral because the pricing of oxtail price per kilogram isn’t cheap. The marked price currently is above R100 per kilogram and this consumer purchased it for just R49,29 per kilo.
From the above, the buyer saved more than half of their money. On the Checkers website, their oxtail per kilogram is priced at R115,99.
People commented and shared their stories of being lucky in stores that have mistakenly priced certain meats at a lower price than usual.
Sharlene Botha tweeted: “I once bought a whole lot of chicken fillets that were priced as chicken feet. I even called my sister to tell her I’m buying her some.”
Nodumiso Mboysia shared: “This one time my mum and I bought 2 trays of lamb that was worth R200 for about R20 each. They had mistakenly put the price for lamb bones. When we got to the till I told my mum to keep quiet and not say anything and just let them swipe they won’t notice.”
Podcast and Chill with MacG cohost, Sol Phenduka asked if the man purchased the meat or did he back out.
