The seasoned broadcaster was reported missing on 21 September, a day after he hinted at suicide on his Facebook page.

He was located a few days later and placed under medical care after an extensive search by his family and the Vanderbijlpark police.

Taking to his Facebook page on Thursday, Mabuya said trying times need courage and resilience, quoting former president of South Africa Thabo Mbeki.

He wrote: “Mantswe ke ana: “Gloom and despondency have never defeated adversity. Trying times need courage and resilience. Our strength as a people is not tested during the best of times.” – Thabo Mbeki I’m literally taking it one day at a time.”
