Legendary actor Patrick Ndlovu has died

Veteran actor Patrick Ndlovu has passed away. His management, Moonyeenn Lee Associates, confirmed the news on their Facebook page.

The 85-year-old was popularly known for his many TV roles, including Sizwe Moloi on the SABC1 drama series Zone 14 and as school principal, Mr Thembu, on the popular TV series, Yizo Yizo.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of legendary actor Patrick Ndlovu, whose acting career spanned more than four decades. We were proud to represent such a consummate professional and majestic talent.

“He was a kind and gentle man, always ready with a smile even when times were tough. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, family and friends. We will miss you, Patrick. RIP,” the statement read.

His cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

Tributes pour in for Patrick Ndlovu

Film director Thabang Moleya said he worked with him on Zone 14 and he was kind and encouraging. 

“Directing on Zone 14. Many years ago. Ntate Patrick was so gentle and kind. I was still very much in my shell at this age. Ever so encouraging. We grew close. A memorable time. Rest in power. You will be missed by many. #RIPPatrickNdlovu” he wrote on Twitter.

The Queen actor Vuyolwethu Ngcukana said: “What an honor to have worked with this man, a true professional, gentle, warm and generous, a legend in his own right and an inspiration to many  #RIPPatrickNdlovu

#RIPEusebiusMcKaiser continues to trend

The industry is still mourning the passing of other talented media personalities, Marike Botha and season journalist Eusebius McKaiser.

Eusebius passed away yesterday, 30 May, from a suspected epileptic seizure.

His colleagues and fans have since shared their tributes on social media. IOL Chief Editor Lance Witten wrote: “Culturally coloured, politically black. RIP Eusebius McKaiser, an intellectual giant, an incisive mind, an outspoken and fierce defender of truth and justice.”

In a statement, his family said shared details regarding his memorial service and funeral in due time.

“He was a loving son, brother, uncle, partner, and special friend. He was also well-loved and respected locally and worldwide for his political commentary and analysis on race and identity. We would like to thank everyone for the outpour of love and support during this difficult time. “
