Guests joining the inaugural Royal Escape Experience, taking place at the Palace of the Lost City at Sun City on July 28, 29 and 30, can look forward to a truly unique three-day luxury retreat, filled with live music from some of the best artists in the industry. Throughout the weekend getaway, which promises a variety of curated luxuries, a host of musical luminaries will entertain the exclusive “escapists”.
espAfrika, the creators of the Escape Music Experiences (and the Cape Town International Jazz Festival), is now proud to announce that international Grammy Award-winning songstress Lalah Hathaway will be the headline performer for the glittering event.
Hathaway is no stranger to South African shores, having previously starred at the 2014 Cape Town International Jazz Festival. Performing at the Royal Banquet event on Saturday, July 30, the contemporary R&B and jazz singer will serenade guests with a selection of the hits that have made her an international superstar.
The Royal Escape Experience is a musical variety experience that will also showcase South African music royalty.
The local line-up includes five-time Sama winners Mi Casa, who will up the tempo with their music and energetic live performances, while the electrifying, classically trained pop-prepped quartet The Muses will have guests on their feet. Also performing their upbeat and mellow swing hits is the trio of Graeme Watkins, Nathan Ro and Loyiso Bala, better known as Swing City; while doo-wop, swing and Motown come together with the voices of Tamara Dey, Mariechan Luiters and Melissa Allison who form the Shoowop Shop; and Sexy Sthe, Beautiful Bee and Mysterious Michelle are the dynamic 3 Tons of Fun.
Adding some Cape Town flair to the proceedings with their free jazz style is TopDog, who recently released their first and highly anticipated album; while the inimitable jazz maestro Bokani Dyer will share his mesmerizing multi-award-winning genius, showcasing why African jazz is claiming the international stage. Rounding off the musical offering for the weekend is the international Afro-Cuban Latin salsa ensemble, En Fuego, whose intoxicating musical expression will have the audience dancing to their New York-styled sounds.
“Music is in our DNA,” said espAfrika’s Billy Domingo, “crafting a line-up of artists who complement one another and the overall experience is what we do best, but sharing it with others and seeing them immersed in the enjoyment of the moment, is what we live for.”
The musical offering supports a weekend of golf, pool parties, magical food and beverage pairings, champagne safaris, couture, conversation and a host of exclusive luxury experiences that culminate in the royal affair.
