Lady Gaga has penned a song in honour of Donatella Versace.
The ‘Applause’ singer will dedicate a track to the famed fashion designer, with whom she is good friends, on her new album ‘ARTPOP’ and has described it as a “crazy fun pop song”.
She explained to JustJared.com: “The song is an incredible crazy fun pop song with really raising electronic beats that I did with [producer] Zedd. It’s about being a fearless female and not caring what people say about you – being proud of who you are and walking the walk no matter what.”
The Versace creative director responded to Gaga, revealing that she loves the musical ode.
She said: “I would like to thank Gaga for her geniality, creativity, incredible talent and super bitchiness. I am honoured to be her friend and of course I love the song!”
On the track, Gaga sings: “Donatella, maybe she’s a bitch, maybe she’s too skinny, maybe she’s too rich, maybe she’s too out there. Or, maybe she’s brilliant, maybe she’s intelligent, maybe she’s strong, maybe she’s everything, maybe she’s Donatella.”
The musical tribute follows in the footsteps of Jay Z’s recent song ‘Tom Ford’, which pays homage to the American fashion designer’s dapper suits.
