From Wiz Khalifa to Alicia Keys: Khanyisa Jaceni celebrates another international recognition

"It’s a testament to “Putting yourself out there."'

Social media sensation and musician Khanyisa Jaceni was over the moon after the international superstar, Alicia Keys, reacted to her video post.

She had recorded a Xhosa rendition of the American singer’s popular song, Unthinkable, and posted it on TikTok.

The Unthinkable hitmaker reacted to the video, leaving Khanyisa and other Mzansi celebrities, including Nadia Nakai, excited.

Alicia’s reaction video has since attracted more than 800K views and over 160K likes.

“A year later, this is honestly the Best Birthday gift sana! Also, it’s a testament to “Putting yourself out THERE! You will never know who is watching. Watching this video is so surreal! Enkosi @aliciakeys,” Khanyisa wrote on Instagram.

Wiz Khalifa jams to Khanyisa’s hit song

In May this year, Khanyisa took to her social media pages to celebrate after the international rapper, Wiz Khalifa, posted a video jamming to her hit song, Zula Zula.

Zula Zula was released last year and features Focalistic and Villosoul. Celebrating Wiz Khalifa’s recognition, Khanyisa took to her Tik-Tok page and posted her video singing Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg’s song, Young, Wild & Free.

“Wiz-Khanyisa! #bottomline,” she wrote, captioning the video.

Khanyisa’s journey to stardom began during the Covid-19 pandemic when she posted videos on social media. She previously opened up to TshisaLive about handling fame. She said fame comes with its pressures, just like any other job.

“No money comes free. There are those days when you are demotivated and have to push yourself to work. It looks all fun, but it’s very costly to my mental health, and that’s why I prioritise my mental health before anything else … I stay away from negative things that are said about me. I scroll fast and avoid things I think could trigger or affect me somehow and keep my head up high,” she told the publication.
