Kelly did not assault me, says ‘Bhaka’

On Sunday, City Press reported Kelly, who has a child with late Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa, poked him in the eye shortly before the Metro FM Music Awards at the Durban’s Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre on Saturday.

“We were sitting in her room and having a conversation while she was getting her make-up done. I then jokingly said I did not realise just how beautiful she looked after she put make-on,” the newspaper quoted Bhaka as saying.

Bhaka had then said his comment had not gone down well with Kelly, given he had a moment earlier rejected the singer’s demand for him to dump his common law wife, Jabu, for her.

However, Bhaka changed his version during an interview with Ukhozi FM on Tuesday. “We had a conversation that was slightly heated and given that Kelly has this habit of using her hands when talking, her hand struck my eye – it was not intentional,” he said.

He denied he was having an affair with Kelly, describing their relationship as “business” related.

On claims he took back the car he had given to Kelly shortly after Saturday’s confrontation, Bhaka said he had lent the singer the vehicle – an Audi Cabriolet – for use while in Durban.

“It is not like I took it back because of anything, she gave it back after completing what she needed to do with the vehicle,” he said.
