Ke$ha’s mother insists she doesn’t have a drinking problem.
The ‘Timber’ hitmaker’s mother, Pebe Sebert, hit back at rumours the star, who checked into a treatment facility near Chicago for 30 days last Friday (03.01.14), is seeking help for an addiction to alcohol in addition to an a eating disorder.
Singer-songwriter Pebe, who is a recovering addict, told Celebuzz: ”The place she’s at is an eating disorder centre.
”She might be crazy and she might get s**t-faced drunk, but everyone does. She might have a few drinks here and there. But she doesn’t have a drinking problem.”
The blonde beauty, 26, has suffered with body image insecurities since she signed her first recording contact at the age of 18.
Her mother explained: ”She was dieting and she became bulimic. I remember over a period of a few months she got really skinny and she said she was running Runyon Canyon [in Los Angeles] and just eating well. The truth is she was throwing up. I didn’t know until much later because she said she would quit.”
Pebe said that Ke$ha is ”doing well” now but admitted the singer might be in treatment for longer than originally planned.
She said: ”This is going to be really hard for her. It’s been a part of her life for so long. She may not get out that soon. That could just be a starting point.”
A source previously said that the ‘Tik Tok’ hitmaker was getting help for her heavy drinking.
The insider said: ”In recent months, those closest to her had become increasingly worried about her drinking. It’s been the stuff of legend in the past and she’s never hidden the fact that she loves to drink.”
