This 10-track offering features artists such as Black Motion, Rhythmic Elements and Danny K. “For the longest time I’ve been influenced by the West through hip hop, which is evident through the music I did with TKZee… I forgot the rich sonic heritage in Africa, and Immortal Vol 3 takes inspiration from that. There are a lot of tribal African rhythms and songs of celebration of Africa,” said Mabalane.
The first single off Immortal Vol 3 was Matimba, which is a perfect example of the tone of the album. This celebratory song reminds us all why we should be proud to be African. The music video was shot in Mozambique.
Another single off Mabalane’s Immortal Vol 3 is called Free This Land. The song is inspired by Jay Williams’ 80s hit called Sweat. “The song is a ‘war cry’ for us to realise the potential of the country can only be achieved if we all put our heads together.”
