One of the first things Kabelo ‘Bouga Love’ Mabalane did when he completed his rehabilitation in 2002 was to march in solidarity with the drug-ravaged community of Eersterust, Pretoria. The kwaito singer, marathon runner, actor, social activist, father and husband is doing this once again.
Tomorrow Mabalane will go back to the town he comes from, Pretoria, and lead a march for a drug-free Eersterus, similar to what he did 14 years ago. “I’m leading a march against drugs in Eesterust. Something needs to be done,” the musician wrote on his twitter. “I realised that the scourge in Eersterust has worsened. We have to go back and pick up where we left off. You can’t do enough messaging,” he told the Daily Sun newspaper, adding that “being free of drugs was a life struggle.”
According to the paper, the march is endorsed by the Gauteng Social Development Department.
