Jub Jub accused of ‘dodging’ R125k legal bill

Disgraced rapper Molemo ‘Jub Jub’ Maarohanye has found himself hogging headlines for all the wrong reasons yet again, after a woman reportedly accused him of not paying R125 000 that he allegedly owes her.

The Sowetan reports that a Johannesburg woman apparently spoke to them anonymously, and is believed to be a family friend of Jub Jub.

The woman claims that she forked out the hefty amount of cash to foot the bill for Jub Jub’s legal fees to his lawyer, Ike Motloung.

Jub Jub and his friend Temba Tshabalala were convicted of culpable homicide after crashing their cars into a group of schoolchildren in 2010, leaving four children dead and two others brain damaged.

The rapper was released on parole early last year.

The woman told the publication that she paid the money in four installments between March and June 2011. She said Jub Jub’s family asked her to help because they apparently could not foot the bill.

“I agreed because I knew the family well and had been friends with them for years. The family was confident that Jub Jub was going to win the case,” she told the paper.

She further claimed that ever since the rapper was released on parole, she has been trying to get in touch with him, but has apparently been given the run-around.

The 53-year-old said that she was told to contact a woman by the name of Angela, who is believed to be Jub Jub’s wife, but was eventually blocked from contacting them.

“I communicated with both of them about the issue until they decided to block me (from their phones). I really want Jub Jub to pay back my money.”

The publication could not reach Jub Jub for comment.
