J’Something’s passion for food and music to combine at Music and Lifestyle Expo

The award-winning muso paid homage to Zakes Bantwini in a lengthy heartfelt post after Zakes’ Abantu show in Cape Town.

There aren’t a lot of things which go well together like music and food and Mi Casa’s J’Something is the epitome of that combination. The muso-come-chef will showcase his dexterity in both at the Music and Lifestyle Expo.

Real name Joao da Fonseca, J’Something will have a live culinary demo cooking Masterclass and music performance next week at the two-day Music and Lifestyle Expo to be hosted at the Sandton Convention Centre on 10th and 11th of November.

“I’m really looking forward to spending some time together with everyone at the Music and Lifestyle Expo. Food and music have incredible ability to just bring about so much joy and unique connection,” said J’Something.

The food fest will form part of the entertainment programme featuring a line-up of live performances from music acts such as singer and songwriter Ami Faku, award-winning Zonke Dikana, Mi Casa and Shekhinah MC’d by Idols SA judge Somizi Mhlongo.

The event will also be a platform for entrepreneurs who will be exhibiting their variety of products like sneakers, food, beauty and other lifestyle-related products as well as business and industry talks from experts and celebrity speakers.

“The Music and Lifestyle Expo returns this year as a bigger and better standalone event, celebrating our lifestyles, networking and creating opportunities,” averred Managing Director of Synergy Business Events the creators of the Music and Lifestyle Tiisetso Tau.

Show love to Zakes Bantwini

MiCasa was one of the performers at the Abantu show hosted by Zakes Bantwini at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town where the Rugby World Cup final was screened.

In a touching tribute to Bantwini, J’Something reminisced on Bantwini and the influence he’s had on him over the years.

“I’ll never forget the many occasions we as MiCasa had to open up for him. Scariest sh*t ever. We had just started and he was flying! He had the moves, the energy, the music, the band, and people loved him. I never been shy of fear, I always embrace it knowing there is a lesson in it. With that said, Zakes definitely inspired me and pushed me to be better at what I do and all I had to do was watch him,” wrote J’Something about the Grammy award winning Bantwini.

“Every time I’d see him, be it at the airport, the Soul Candi offices, or anywhere really, he would always be with his laptop. Always producing, or at least that’s what I always assumed. This gave me a lot of urgency around how hard was I working at my craft.”

“I could go on and on. I just wanted you to know Zakes that you have played a role in shaping me for one, and many many others, no doubt! This last week at Abantu I was so inspired to just do it, to see my dreams come alive, especially the big ones that are super scary!”
