Jenny Crwys-Williams bids farewell to Radio 702

Laughing, she explains: “My domestic worker put the idea in my head. In all the years she’s worked for me, she has never worked Thursdays. She simply refuses. When I asked why, she said she needed to rest. I thought: ‘Well if she’s got it together, why can’t I?'”

Released of her daily responsibilities, Crwys-Williams will continue to host her weekly book show along with her private book club and literary events.

Describing her career as a constant high, the radio presenter is ready to welcome some calm into her life and go on a different kind of adventure and embrace new challenges.

“I have loved my career; it’s just time to try something new,” she says.

END OF AN ERA. Jenny Crwys-Williams bids farewell to her afternoon talk show on 702 at the end of the year.

“Change is good and sometimes you have to be the one to instigate it. The radio show has kept me wonderfully on my toes. That’s what I love about talk radio – you never know what is going to happen next. There have been times where I’ve gone into studio with a set opinion on something and, by the end of the show, my opinion’s changed. When you come off air after a good show, it can take you two hours to come down. I have been humbled and people have taught me a great deal.”

Williams will miss her on-air relationships, describing her listeners as family. She believes her fans will follow her on her new path, whatever it may be and the messages and tweets she’s received are testament of this.

“I have met a number of fascinating people during my career. My fans have shown great support and I’ve been moved by all the messages I’ve received. This is not the end and I’m not ready to walk away from contacts,” she says.

She will be replaced by 947 Breakfast Express co-host Sam Cowen, starting in the new year.

Williams concludes: “I think she’s going to take people on a different kind of journey.”
