SABC 3’s Man Cave presenter/producer and men’s underwear model Lunga Shabalala holds a special place in the hearts of many woman fans throughout the country. His gorgeous smile and well-built body are the reasons this 27-year-old has been called one of South Africa’s sexiest men and most eligible bachelors.
Having started his career modelling for international brand Calvin Klein and moving on to becoming a producer and presenter on one of SA’s biggest TV shows, he is fast becoming a mogul in his own right. And now he is looking to add the title of landlord to his list of accolades. Shabalala recently met up with well-known celebrity real estate company owner Thato Mbha, also known as TT Mbha, to discuss how best to put his first property on the rental market.
Situated in the heart of Fourways, Lunga’s two-storey bachelor pad is the ideal place for any new professional. Having lived there for two-and-half years, Lunga says he is ready to move into a spacious, standalone house, preferably in Fourways, with hopes of turning it into a home, as he is ready to settle down and start a family. Asked about the inspiration behind the décor of his bachelor pad, Lunga thanked Instagram.
“I would look through my Instagram browser and find inspiration on how to best use the space I have.
“I used to look at posts and think: I can do that.”
The posters and photographs of retired French professional footballer Thierry Henry leave no doubt that he is a big fan and supporter of the team.

Tips for first-time landlords
When is it a good time to put your property on the market?
Putting a property on the market is driven or dependent on the circumstances that the property owner (company or individual) is in at the time, such as divorce, downgrading or upgrading.
What are the key things to look out for when renting out an apartment?
Always make sure that you are aware of all the expensive conditions stipulated in the lease agreement. It is very important to adhere to the agreed terms of the contract period.
What to expect as a first-time landlord?
It is important for the landlord to make regular inspections of their property to ensure that the tenant is looking after it. As a landlord, it is important to protect the value of your property by making sure it is being kept in good condition.
As a first-time property buyer, what should you avoid?
Avoid over-committing yourself on your bond by living above your financial means. Leave room for interest rate hikes, which will always affect your bond repayments.
