Idols star Khaya Mthethwa to host gospel TV show

After testing the waters earlier this year as victorious choir master on 'Clash of the Choirs', South African 'Idols' winner Khaya Mthethwa is set for an official foray into television as the host of a new gospel show.

Keeping his fans informed about all his exciting new ventures, Khaya on Wednesday tweeted: “What’s next 4 me>> Ill be hosting a new TV show on @Mzansimagic starting in Nov called GospelAlive an working on a Gospel album release 2014”

After being crowned the winner of Idols in 2012, Khaya released his debut album, For You, a secular offering that includes the rendition of Nicki Minaj’s ‘Super Bass’ he sang for the reality competition. But as the son of a pastor and a strongly religious person, the talented 25-year-old has a strong passion for gospel music, and this upcoming album is a sure-fire sign that this is actually where his heart lies.

Khaya was named Best Newcomer at the Metro FM awards and won Best R&B/Soul/Reggae Album at the SAMAs earlier this year. He has also been nominated in the Most Gifted Newcomer category for the upcoming 10th annual Channel O Africa Music Awards.
