As the contestants were narrowed down to the top nine, some Idols SA viewers still can’t handle the fact that Somizi Mhlongo is not part of the show.
It has been about a month since Somizi’s last appearance at the singing competition.
Idols SA live show ratings have taken a dip but this usually occurs around this time as viewers lose interest in this section of the show right up until the finale.

During Sunday night’s episode, the top nine performed their covers of hit songs from amapiano stars and DJs such as Prince Kaybee, DJ Cleo and Sun-EL Musician.
The judges, Unathi Nkayi and Randall Abrahams, were not impressed with the majority of the performances as they felt underwhelmed but the audience, too, were disappointed.
Somizi has denied abuse accusations made by his estranged husband Mohale Motaung and confirmed that he would be taking legal action against him.
Despite some gigs lost from TV and radio, Somizi is still booked and busy on the cooking side of his career. He hosts several cooking events and buffets around Gauteng.
Coincidently, Somizi was out and about with Sun-El Musician enjoying his performance at an event.
Initially, the latest episode of Idols SA included the top 10, however, contestant Ithana withdrew due to medical reasons.
M-Net local channels entertainment director, Nomsa Philiso, wished the 22-year-old a speedy recovery.
“It is unfortunate that she cannot continue in the competition but her health is of paramount importance. I know this is not the last time South Africans see her on our screens,” she said.
Closing off the night’s performance, Karabo stole the show with her rendition of DJ Cleo’s Gcina Mpilo Yami.
