Idols SA runner-up Mthokozisi receiving professional help after loss
After losing the Idols SA title to 17-year-old Paxton Fielies on Sunday night, runner-up Mthokozisi is reportedly getting help to deal with the emotions.
Social media was sent into a frenzy on Sunday night after Mthokozisi stormed off stage shortly after Paxton took the crown.
It is also standard procedure that both the winner and runner-up attend a press conference after the finale, however Mthokozisi’s seat at the press interview was left empty.
The musician has reportedly also since declined to do any media interviews.
According to TshisaLIVE, Mthokozisi is “not in a good space” and has apparently been given time away from the media frenzy to deal with the emotions of losing.
“Mthokozisi has requested to be given time to come to terms with the result of the Idolsshow. He will indicate when he is ready to speak to the media,” head of PR at M-Net Nondumiso Mabece told the publication.
Nondumiso told the publication that he was also receiving assistance to cope with the loss.
“He is currently receiving assistance to deal with emotions involved in this situation,” she said.
Mthokozisi who grew up in KZN was orphaned when he was just 14 years old, and, despite the odds against him, made it to the finale. He also made headlines earlier this year when he was shot during a robbery, but was determined to not let that deter him from the competition.
