26 October marks exactly seven years since the murder of football player Senzo Meyiwa, and his family, friends and country are still waiting for answers.
Years later, Kelly Khumalo, who was seeing the former Bafana Bafana captain and goalkeeper at the time, is still at the centre of the incident, as people want to know what exactly transpired.
The murder trial of the five men accused of killing the football star is set to start on 11 April 2022 at the Pretoria High Court. They were arrested in October 2020, after years without a single arrest in the Meyiwa case.
Meyiwa was gunned down on 26 October 2014 during an alleged robbery at the home of Khumalo in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni.

The rumours and constant reports of Khumalo’s alleged involvement in Meyiwa’s death have been well covered despite the police not charging or implicating her in the case.
In recent years, Khumalo has spoken about her former partner and has shared some information about their daughter.
In the second season of her hit reality series Life with Kelly Khumalo: The next chapter unfolds, Khumalo said she only found out that Meyiwa was married when she was three months pregnant with their daughter.

She revealed the information during a therapy session and the Voice of Africa hitmaker was emotional during her “confessional”.
Khumalo also expressed she wanted the case to come to an end in August 2020.
“The matter of my daughter’s father needs to be put to an end; it’s been six years,” she said. Khumalo did tell her six-year-old daughter, Thingo, on the first season of her show about Meyiwa after she inquired about who her dad was and why he wasn’t home.
Khumalo explained that her father is in heaven and watching over her. Thingo heartbreakingly asks: “I’m going to find him at home?” Thingo explains she also wondered why she didn’t have a father like other kids.
In 2017, Khumalo said the only thing keeping her close to Meyiwa is their daughter.
Khumalo has battled being labelled the villain in the Meyiwa story because of how their relationship transpired and the fact that the death occurred at her family’s Vosloorus home.
She was also denied by the Meyiwa family to attend the funeral.
