House talent DJ Duke Soul dies

Family of popular house maestro Vusi popularly known as DJ Duke Soul have confirmed to TMG Entertainment that the Kimberly born musician passed away in his hometown of Kimberly.

“He was my brother. We started Duke Soul Productions together. I’ve known him for my whole life. It’s a very emotional time. We are taking his body to the morgue now‚” Vusi’s cousin Themba Sikhupelo told the Sunday World‚ while choking back tears.

In a short message posted to the Duke Soul Productions Facebook page today‚ the label’s Major P publicised the news. “I’m sorry to announce that Duke Soul passed away this morning. He always loved the Duke Soul Music family very much. Let’s stay strong‚” the statement read.

The house DJ was admitted to hospital on 1 April. His cousin told TMG Entertainment that he had previous collapsed at O.R Tambo International Airport and had been in and out of hospital for a few weeks now.
