According to the Daily Sun, the young men, Anthony Mamoepa, 25, and Thando Mbonambi, 17, did not deny they stole the battery, neither did Hotstix deny beating them himself instead of reporting the matter to the police.
The young men said Mabuse held them hostage for six hours, beating them with a hammer and a gun. The battery was stolen on Saturday night from Mabuse’s house in Pimville Zone 6, Soweto.
The men sold Mabuse paint, who in turn did not pay the full amount but promised to pay the rest later.
The boys ran out of patience when they decided to steal Mabuse’s battery. While still looking for a buyer, Mabuse
found them, took them to his house and beat them up.
The men have opened a case of assault GBH at Kliptown Police Station.
Hotstix is expected to appear in court soon in connection with assault and kidnapping.
