Last year, hip-hop superstar and humanitarian Akon was named as the recipient of the 2016 Global Good Award at the BET Awards.
In 2014, Akon co-founded Akon Lighting Africa.
Now, he’s set to make a turn at the first annual African Leaders 4 Change Awards (ALCA), which will be held in September at Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton, north of Johannesburg.
The ceremony will honour and recognise initiatives that have made a difference around the continent.
These are initiatives that have shown verve for adding a positive, meaningful impact on African lives without seeking a financial reward.
Akon will host the award show to be broadcast on more than 15 channels across the African continent.
Categories includes wildlife preservation, leadership and education.
