Has fame changed Cassper Nyovest?

When the Maftown star, Cassper Nyovest broke into the music industry, he became a breath of fresh air, with fans embracing him for the boy-next-door approach he had. Refiloe Phoolo, aka Cassper Nyovest, broke into the industry like a hurricane, breaking records and his music selling like hotcakes.

He always hailed his mentor Jabulani Tsambo, known as Hip Hop Pantsula (HHP) for believing in his talent and supporting him, even saying HHP gave him startup money when he had nothing.

Cassper filled up the dome, making him a leading-edge in the South African musician industry especially as a young artist. His album Refiloe went gold the same day, and platinum a few weeks later. Recently, he released a video of his single Malome, which his fans hail as his best work so far.

However, there seems to be a discord between the Maftown boy that his fans knew and the record-breaking Cassper now, according to his mentor HHP.

On Friday, HHP took to instagram to express how “he does not relate to Cassper’s lifestyle anymore” and sarcastically hailed Cassper as the “Alpha and Omega” of the music game. HHP’s tweet comes after Cassper allegedly threw shots at the Alpha and Omega (OGs) of the game, saying no one comes close to him as a musician.

HHP wrote: “Bowing down to your success my KING @casspernyovest . You truly are the BEST. You’ve said in some interviews numerous times that nobody comes close to you and what you’ve achieved. You are right. You are the Alpha & Omega of the music game. Rago leboga the best. #JuiceBackRemixput things into perspective.”

He posted:

Some of HHP’s fans however were not impressed with him posting his disappointment at his mentee on social media. They said he should have called Cassper privately and “bring him to order” if he thought he was getting out of line.

One Instagram user kamzela_g agreed with HHP, saying he sympathises with him, adding they wished Cassper would listen to him.

They commented: “I wish Refiloe can hear u out…u knw,u will think m lying if i told u that i found my 24 years old brother crying in tears,m talking abt his biggest fan saying “he cannot belive how fame actually changed cassper ,He said cass blocked him on instagram for commenting on his insta post that” fame changed him” lyk seriously thou😩😩😢…. I really missed the maftown boy aka mr doc shebeleza not this big ego guy…😢😢😭@hiphoppantsula @jigga_the_man @keamo9x.”
