Gospel singer Sechaba Pali ‘assaulted’ in Lesotho

Gospel musician Sechaba Pali was allegedly assaulted in Lesotho while visiting his family on Friday.

Days after his alleged assault, the gospel star had reportedly still not received medical treatment in Lesotho, so he was forced to drive more than 150km to Botshabelo, near Bloemfontein.

He was allegedly sent away because the nurses said he needed to report the matter to the police. When he got to a police station in Botshabelo, he said he was told to report the crime in Lesotho, The Sowetan has reported.

After returning to a hospital in Maseru with a police form, he apparently still could not be attended to, as an official who was meant to assist with the form was allegedly not at work, forcing them to drive back to South Africa.

The issue reportedly started in early 2000 after Pali’s wife, Maletsatsi Makapalla, started questioning her “unlawful eviction”.

As the drama continued, on Friday a group of men allegedly armed with sticks and knobkerries went to his wife’s house and demanded to speak to Makapalla.

“Since I saw that they were not here to negotiate, I asked them to speak to me. They began attacking me. I found myself on the floor,” he was quoted as saying by the publication.

Pali sustained injuries to his body and face.

Hospital officials could not be reached for comment.
