Given Mkhari rape accuser getting impatient

Zakhe Yende says she's frustrated by the lack of progress on the rape case she opened against media mogul Given Mkhari.

Yende claims that Mkhari sexually assaulted her, but the businessman countered the allegations by opening a case of extortion against her in October, saying that she started harassing him after he refused to give her a job.

Speaking to the Sunday Sun, Yende – who has also laid charges of common assault against Mkhari’s lawyer – said her life has been ruined and that she fears for her life as she waits for any development on the case.

“I’ve been getting anonymous calls from private numbers from 8pm until late,” said the 25-year-old.

“I don’t understand why has the case not gone anywhere? I’ve had to quit my job and stay at home as I didn’t feel safe.

“I feel judged when on the streets as people look at me. I have to clear my name if it’s the last thing I do.”

Mkhari has vehemently denied all of Yende’s accusations, saying that she fabricated the rape allegation and tried to blackmail him for R20 million.

The Power FM boss released a press statement via his lawyer over the weekend, in which he says he is “saddened by the ongoing allegations by a person who has persistently and unsuccessfully tried to secure employment in several of his companies and later attempted to extort money from him”.
