Generations star Rosie Motene, ready to forgive assailant

Actress Rosie Motene, who was badly beaten following an assault at a function in Botswana at the end of 2013, says she is ready to forgive the man who tried to rearrange her face.

The former Generations star, who also featured in Hotel Rwanda, was left with a broken nose and a black eye after the attack told the New Age that the death of Nelson Mandela had reminded her about the importance of forgiveness.

Her alleged assailant, Bissau Gaobakwe spoke about the incident on television recently and suggested that he had apologized to the actress.

Commenting on the matter Motene said, “If he is sincere there was no need to have his own press conference, if he was such a gentle man. It is imperative that we meet and talk things over.

“I am willing to meet him to map out a way forward,” she said.

She added that she would be returning to Botswana to assist police with their investigations and denied suggestions that she was in any way to blame for the assault.

“Yes I was drinking wine, but I walked out just fine,” she said, reflecting on the events of the evening. “We have to stop making excuses for people who abuse other people.”
