The actress is accused of allegedly stealing a packet of Panado tablets worth R17.90 in December 2013 at Checkers in Cresta Mall, Johannesburg.

The case has been postponed several times because of technical and time constraint problems from the State and defence.

During her last court appearance at the end of February, the court heard that the State had not had adequate time to view the legal representations submitted by Benedict’s attorney, Jonathan Kaiser.

Kaiser submitted their version of events and also requested the matter get struck off the roll. The representations were submitted in writing on 24 February.

“We have told our side of the story, it is in the State’s hands now,” said Kaiser.

The actress released a statement earlier in February categorically denying she committed the crime. She suggested the case was being pursued not on a matter of evidence, but because she is a celebrity.
