Flabba’s mom reveals WhatsApp messages
It is not certain if further police investigations would follow news of messages between late rapper Nkululeko “Flabba” Habedi and his mother, in which he allegedly described the relationship problems between himself and murder-accused girlfriend Sindi Manqele.

In an interview with news channel eNCA, Flabba’s mother, Agatha Hadebi, spoke of how her son told her in the messages that Manqele was going to kill him. “He said she (Manqele) came across some Whatsapp messages… flirty messages… that he was sending… that they were sending to and fro – from another girl. And… she got angry, and now Sindi is breaking up with him or something,” Hadebi said.
“Sindi didn’t want to talk to him, and he was pleading with me to talk to her. And I said okay, I’ll phone her.”
At the end of his message with his mother Flabba allegedly wrote: “She’s gonna kill me”. Hadebi allegedly jokingly responded: “You’re dead meat,” she told the broadcaster. Following the alleged conversation with her son, Hadebi said she managed to contact Manqele. “I said, ‘what happened?’…Then she said, ‘look mum, I’ll be there in two weeks, and I’ll come and see you’. That was the last time I spoke to her.
“And I really loved her. I still do. I don’t know what possessed her – I really don’t. I want to ask her why? What was it that you couldn’t talk about? You know…why?”
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Velekhaya Mgobhozi was not immediately available for comment. Gauteng police spokesperson Kay Makhubela however said police had received no such complaint in this regard. If a complaint was received, it would be investigated, he said. Manqele, a 26-year-old student based in Ireland, has since been granted R10 000 bail by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court.
She has claimed to have acted in self-defence, saying that Flabba had “brutally” attacked her. The NPA indicated previously that it had a strong case. Manqele denied this when she told the court in an affidavit that she was confident that there was no evidence against her.
