Thabo Ndlovu, the winner of Idols SA season 19, shares five lesser-known facts about himself in a conversation with The Citizen.


The emotional end of Idols SA’s last season saw Thabo Ndlovu named the winner, marking the end of an era for South Africa’s popular talent show.

After 19 exciting seasons, the Mosaïek Teatro in Johannesburg hosted the final contestants for a memorable goodbye, leaving behind a legacy of great music moments.

Thabo secured the title when he competed against Princess in the final.

Prizes

As the ultimate South African Idol, he received a generous package including R1 million in cash from Mzansi Magic, a brand-new Toyota Vitz, a technology bundle worth R65,000 from Huawei, R100,000 worth of musical equipment from Yamaha, a R100,000 wardrobe from Truworths, and a recording deal from Feel Good Music to launch his music career.

Princess, the runner-up, received all of her live show outfits and a fashion voucher, totalling a value of R50,000 from Truworths.

Thabo’s background

Thabo, originally from Witbank in Mpumalanga, has always had a deep passion for singing, particularly when it comes to moving people’s hearts and making his voice heard.

The Idols SA stage not only provided Thabo with his initial opportunity to showcase his talent but also allowed him to perform alongside gospel legends and ultimately secure the title of the last South African Idol.

Living out his dream now, Thabo has released his first-ever single titled Islungu, which is available on all the main digital music platforms.

Five things you did not know about Thabo

While everyone adores Thabo’s incredible singing, there’s more to him than meets the eye!

In a recent chat with The Citizen, Thabo spilled five surprising facts about himself that his fans never knew.

This is what he revealed:

1. He loves Architecture

Thabo revealed he likes Architecture and is a big fan of interior design. He said when he is feeling stressed or has a lot going on, focusing on these things helps him feel calm and relaxed.

2. He can sketch

Art plays a significant role in Thabo’s life, and he has a talent for drawing. Thabo shared that he learned visual arts and design during his school days. Although he is not entirely certain if he can still draw, he believes he has a good understanding of how to do it.

3. He loves dogs

While most people have a soft spot for dogs, Thabo’s affection goes the extra mile. His love is dedicated to dogs, and in his situation, it’s not just any dog, but it is the mighty Pitbull that truly captures his heart.

4. He doesn’t like long drives

The Idols SA Season 19 winner admitted that he’s not a fan of long drives or road trips. He prefers flights, explaining that he is not too keen on the idea of sitting in a car for a long time.

5. He is a very shy person

Thabo’s vibrant energy and passion on the Idols SA stage captivated thousands, winning over more hearts with each passing week.

However, fans might be surprised to learn that behind the scenes, Thabo is actually a shy person. During the interview, Thabo revealed he prefers to staying indoors.
