Drake credits his success to his mother

Drake’s mother is the ”most important person” in his life. The 26-year-old rapper credits Sandi Graham with helping him achieve his dreams, and she helped inspire some of the lyrics on his new record ‘Nothing Was the Same’.

He told the Huffington Post: ”My mother is an incredible woman. I talk about her a lot on this album. ”She’s brought me to this point single-handedly … She’s the most important person in my life.”

Drake showed his appreciation for his mother when he gave her his Grammy Award for Best Rap Album – which he won for ‘Take Care’ earlier this year – and she has plans to start properly putting his things on display.

He added: ”It’s in her kitchen now. One day she’s going to put some shelves up in her house and start displaying some stuff.” The musician whose real name is Aubrey Graham also dismissed the hip-hop cliches, insisted he has no problem being criticised for his sensitivity because it means he’s not going off the rails.

He explained: ”I’m just being me, and part of being me is being in touch with emotion. That’s all I write about. If I didn’t write about my emotions, I don’t know what else I would write about.

”I’d make songs about generic things that nobody could relate to and I probably wouldn’t be in this position that I’m in right now.”

”I’m emotional, yeah, I guess. Let that be the worst thing in my life, please, not something like drug charges and God knows what else.”
