This past weekend was probably one of the very few that celebville only had good reports. Celebrities just have a way of making us talk, though they always complain about “false” reports written about them. Since Friday, a lot happened that got our favourite celebrities trending on Twitter- and for good reason this time.
Some were celebrating milestones in their music careers, while some were celebrating birthdays and some, tying the knot.
Here is what got people talking over the weekend:
Ntombezinhle Jiyane, DJ Zinhle, set Twitter alight on Friday when she posted a picture of herself sporting a new haircut. The picture got her fans complimenting her, saying she looked younger than she did when she had weaves. Baby K should be proud of her mommy for her “brave” hairdo.

2. AKA and Bonang
Kiernan Forbes, better known as AKA, performed his single One Time for the first time on SABC 1’s Live Amp show on Friday night, with alleged bae Bonang Matheba presenting the show. Queen B said the channel asked her to present the show for the night “to help out” since Pearl Thusi was reportedly sacked for being part of Lip Sync Battle Africa. The SABC made a fantastic choice of the presenter as it got people amped to see how the “couple” would interact.
Twitter was again worked into a frenzy on Friday, with people praising Matheba’s presenting skills, and some praising AKA’s song, saying it was “created for decades to come”. We thought they looked good together. Look at their first public selfie together:
Our very own DJ Black Coffee turned 40 on Friday and his lovely wife Mbali Mlotshwa did not hold back from sharing what the day meant to her. She took to her Instagram to share a very touching and lovely birthday message to her husband. She wrote: “I decided to take a chance on you and break through the surface. The love thirsty pirate I am, the treasure I found in you was great enough to stop the search. Thank you for being born today, my twin.”
4. Sfiso Ncwane discharged from hospital
Gospel artist Sfiso Ncwane was hospitalised on Friday after being diagnosed with Malaria. The singer was set to perform at a concert in Giyani, but could not, due to his hospitalisation. The Kulungile Baba singer took to Instagram to thank his fans “for praying for his healing”, and also shared that he was recording a new album. We cannot wait for the new album and we are glad you are well Mr Ncwane.

5. Rapper Amu gets married
South African hip hop artist Amu got married to Chrisula Zarkalis in Nelspruit over the weekend. Among the attendees were Idols SA presenter Proverb, who also performed at the luxurious wedding. Comedian David Kau, who was one of the groomsmen. The groomsmen went for a stylish three-piece suit with chuck tailors. Congratulations to you Amu, we wish you all the best!
6. HHP “gets married”
Despite the couple’s instruction to their wedding guests not to post anything on social media, news still came out that Hip Hop Pantsula and Lerato Sengati reportedly got married over the weekend. In a report by the Daily Sun, the couple tied the knot in a traditional ceremony that was only attended by close friends and family. A source reportedly told the paper that the couple had been on and off but now have taken their relationship to the next level, with the couple mum on their white wedding plans.
HHP however took to Twitter to deny the reports that he tied the knot. He tweeted: “Kwae e tshwana le kuranta ya sontaga. Ke maaka fela, mare sampe o rata goe etela, slamming the Sunday papers for writing lies and people still reading and believing them.
