Minnie Dlamini has finally revealed how her stunning umembeso with Quinton Jones was a day to remember and filled with close to 400 guests.
In an eight-page picture special for Drum magazine, the finer details of how the traditional ceremony was celebrated are covered. Umembeso takes place when the lobola process has been completed and the groom’s family brings gifts to the bride’s homestead to show appreciation for the bride’s family in raising their daughter and giving her away to her new family.
“Every beautiful memory I’ve ever had was represented at my parents’ home during my traditional wedding.
“It was everything I ever dreamed of and more. And I can’t wait for my next wedding,” Minnie told Drum.
The white-and-gold figure-hugging dress she wore was designed by Asanda Madyibi, a designer Minnie has collaborated with before. Quinton wore a black suit also designed by Madyibi while his groomsmen wore white shirts with Zulu beads drapped around their necks.
The decor consisted of cream, gold and touches of brown. Large floral arrangements added a sophisticated touch to the whole arrangement. The decor was done by Well Seated’s Mizana Qata and floral arrangements were by Kgomotso Ndungane from Oak Celebration.
Guests dined on traditional food including slaughtered cow, lamb, curry, tripe and steamed bread. The magazine reports that beer, vodka and french champagne flowed all day along and guests were offered five-star service, lacking nothing.
DJ Sox and Zakes Bantwini entertained guests while traditional Zulu dancers performed throughout the ceremony.
