Miss Universe 2017, Demi-Leigh Tebow, was recently seen visiting South Africa and apart from celebrating with her grandmother on her 84th birthday and frolicking in the winelands with her best friend from Grade 6, she was also checking up on her and husband Tim Tebow’s dream – a home for abandoned babies.
In a recent Instagram post, Demi-Leigh shared rather concerning statistics, saying that 3-4 babies are abandoned daily in the greater Johannesburg area.
“Upon learning this staggering statistic, the Tim Tebow Foundation was convicted to confront the issue and help to create a life-saving alternative to aid this massive crisis of baby abandonment in South Africa,” the former Miss Universe wrote.
Demi-Leigh’s husband, Tim, is the founder of the Tim Tebow Foundation and for his 34th birthday, he launched a birthday fundraising campaign to help fund the building of a home for abandoned babies.
Demi-Leigh says through her husband’s birthday fundraiser campaign, the Tim Tebow Foundation was recently able to start building a baby home, situated in the North West suburbs of Johannesburg.
“My trip to South Africa was extra special because I got to visit with our partners and the nearly finished baby home, and I even got a few snuggles.”
The beauty queen says the Tim Tebow Foundation joined Impact Africa on a mission to bring faith, hope and love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need. This is to assist rescue operations to get to more babies and provide education and prevention to help desperate mothers in this difficult time.
“Every child is deserving of a loving, caring, and safe home and we look forward to providing that in partnership with Impact Africa,” says Demi-Leigh, who will be married to the professional sportsman for two years come January.
