Sunday’s episode of Mzansi’s most popular singing competition, Idols SA, saw one of the judge’s favourites booted out.
Nqobie was voted out, considered by viewers as one of Randall Abrahams’ favourite singers in the competition because of his consistent praise of her.
As the top five sang the best hits to bare their souls in line with the unplugged theme, viewers couldn’t help but poke fun at Randall’s “favourite” being no more and how voters failed talented songstress Nqobie.
The guest judge was former Uzalo actor Khaya Dladla, well known for his role as GD on the SABC1 soapie. His appearance was applauded because he brought positive energy, as some viewers were convinced he could be a permanent judge as a replacement for Somizi Mhlongo.

Dladla’s appearance was also a nod by Idols SA to honour the LGBTIQ+ community, as the top five performed songs from artists who are part of the community and its allies.
The Mzansi Gay Choir also graced the stage for the third year in a row as part of Pride Month.
In the first half of the performances, judges Unathi Nkayi and Randall described Karabo’s rendition of Amanda Black’s Thandwa Ndim as “incredibly powerful”.
Randall remarked that everything about Daylin Sass’s performance of Liquideep’s Fairytale was good, while S’22Kile lived up to expectations, as the judges called her cover of Bucie’s Easy to Love as her best to date.
The contestants literally had a five-star show as Berry was told she was the complete package after performing Craig Lucas’s, Happy.
However, Kevin stole the show after his rendition of Afrotraction’s Mnike, as Dladla called him a superstar.
Actress Jessica Nkosi is a big fan of Kevin too.
In the second half of the show, the top five had mixed feedback from the judges.
While S’22Kile, Karabo, and Daylin left Randall dissatisfied, Unathi and Khaya were happy with their performances.
Berry and Kevin brought the audience on their feet. Kevin sang George Michael’s As and Berry did Lady Gaga’s Edge of Glory.
