Soon after the Sunday World’s website posted a story detailing how depressed Chomee, whose real name is Thulisile Madihlaba, is about her days in the limelight fast coming to an end and recently being hospitalised for depression, the dancer and musician took to social media to set the record straight.
“Depression: No. Exhaustion: Yes. Sometimes that’s what happens when you are one of the most booked artists in your stable, who’s working on her album and preparing for a DVD shoot,” she says, pouring cold water on the Sunday paper’s claims.
According to the paper, the singer, who often gets booked at ANC gigs, is down and out now that the party’s gigs have dried out and the man in her life, her manager and self-proclaimed King of Kwaito and 999 Music boss Arthur Mafokate has allegedly dumped her for the new girl at the recording label Cici.
The songstress further explained on Instagram that apart from just being overworked and not suffering from depression, Arthur didn’t dump her as the two of them weren’t dating.
“To set the record straight: Arthur’s level of support for his artists is impeccable and I’ve been happily dating for a while now, in fact my partner makes me very happy,” the social media post read.
Chomee’s fans have taken to social media to show support, with others expressing their frustration over the speculative story about her mental health.
