On the last leg of their African Throne Tour in Johannesburg over the weekend, Cassper Nyovest shared that he and Nasty C nearly became adversaries because of a beat given to them by a producer.
“There was a time when me and Nasty had beef right,” said Cassper on stage over the weekend.
“This happened a few years ago. One of our friends, talented producer, sends me this one beat. The beat is so hot, I do a record to it. But he sent him (Nasty C) the same beat. So both records dropped, I don’t know if you noticed, but me and Nasty had two hits on the same beat. Somehow, we didn’t end up beefing and we’re here standing together,” averred Cassper before performing his version, which is Tito Mboweni.
The said producer is Gemini Major who sent Nasty C the same beat, which became Nasty’s NDA 2017 hit. But on Spotify the song belongs to an artist by the name The Vinyl Kid.
Even though the beat of the two songs is the same, how the two rappers approached their respective songs different brought much disparity.

The pair’s African Throne Tour started around August and culminated with the release of their respective albums in September. Nasty’s I Love it Here and Cassper’s Solomon were released on the same day on September 15.
The tour’s itinerary included stops in Ghana, Tanzania, England, Nigeria, Zimbabwe and Dubai.
Over the weekend the pair gave away two diamond pendants to lucky fans who attended their show in Joburg.
In collaboration with jewellery maker Shohreh Custom Made, the two rappers created The African Throne Unity piece. The idea was to combine the powers of two award winning rappers into one SA Hip Hop collaborative Diamond pendant.
