Cassper Nyovest donates R50 000 to Wits SRC

The University of Witwatersrand SRC has launched their Access campaign that seeks to raise R10 million for students who have outstanding debt. The students, “missing middle”, are those who Nsfas does not cover based on their parents’ income but unfortunately cannot afford to settle the bill either.

The “missing middle” students’ household income is R120 000, not taking into account living expenses and textbooks. This does not take into account those dependent on the same income either. The Wits SRC launched the campaign and has called on the South African entertainment industry to take part and help raise the R10 million.

So far, Ifani has accepted the challenge, inviting Cassper Nyovest, who also accepted and called on Major League DJs, who are yet to respond. Let’s see if South African artists will respond to the call and help raise R10 million for those students.

This follows DJ Sbu’s attempt at raising funds for students last week when he took to the streets of Joburg to sell his drink MoFaya, and also hosting a concert, with big hits such as Zahara, coming through to perform for free.
