Bradley Cooper for Guardians of the Galaxy

Bradley Cooper is wanted for 'Guardians of the Galaxy' to voice the role of Rocket Raccoon in Marvel's new space-set comic book movie directed by James Gunn.

The Oscar-nominated ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ actor has reportedly been offered the deal to voice the role of Rocket Raccoon in Marvel’s new space-set comic book movie directed by James Gunn, according to the LatinoReview.com.

Vin Diesel previously hinted that he had been snapped up to play Groot in the film after he posted a picture of the character on his Facebook page, but swiftly took it down.

Groot is part of the titular intergalactic crime-fighting force which is led by Star-Lord/Peter Quill, who will be played by Chris Pratt. Other Guardians include female assassin Gamora, played by Zoe Saldana and super-human warrior Drax the Destroyer, played by former WWE wrestler Dave Bautista.

The star-studded cast also includes Lee Pace as villain Ronan the Accuser, Benicio del Toro as The Collector, Karen Gillan as Nebula, and John C. Reilly and Glenn Close as agents of otherworldly police force Nova Corps.

Cooper had recently been linked to Warner Bros.’ new project ‘Red Blooded American’, where he was set to join as a producer for the movie which is one of the three about the disgraced cyclist in development and may also play one of the two lead roles in the flick, either portraying Armstrong or fellow American cyclist, Tyler Hamilton.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ is set for release in August 2014.
