Bonang, SABC kiss and make-up

The SABC allegedly instructed Matheba to terminate the contract she signed with SuperSport to present SuperSport World Cup Live show.

What followed was a spat of words as Queen B released a statement announcing the ‘end of the relationship’.

“I could not agree to the SABC’s blanket terms – in restricting me to work with other broadcasters even though my contract with them was on radio,” Matheba posted on her facebook page.

SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago however accused Matheba of ‘misleading the public’ and said her contract was terminated with immediate effect after she violated its terms.

However, a month later SABC and Matheba appear to have kissed and made-up with the public broadcaster releasing a statement  saying that an agreement had been reached that will see Queen B soon rejoin the SABC.

She will once again be hosting ‘The Front row’ on MetroFM from 9am to 12pm on weekdays, from 11 August.

According to the statement she has unreservedly withdrawn all her public statements made with regards to her departure prior to the FIFA 2014 World Cup.

“The SABC would like to welcome back [Bonang] Matheba and accepts her apology. Our aim as broadcaster is not to destroy our talent but to nurture and help young people to grow in this challenging industry,” said SABC Chief Operations Officer,  Hlaudi Motsoeneng.

Matheba added, “I am thrilled to re-engage my long standing relationship with the SABC.  The support I have received from the listeners and viewers has been overwhelming, and for that I am grateful… It’s an exciting time head”.
