Bonang opens up about why 2012 was one of the worst years of her life

The year 2012 will go down as one of the worst in Bonang Matheba’s life after her relationship with DJ Euphonik came to an end.

Tshisa LIVE reports that in her book, Bonang says her personal life was falling apart despite her reaching new career highs at the time. Though she has removed Euphonik’s name in the book, Bonang goes on to tell her story, explaining how she felt it was a defining moment for her and one of the most painful.

At the time she had a public fallout with Euphonik and pressed charges of assault against him. Bonang later withdrew the charges and rekindled her romance with the DJ.

Later that year she was accused of having terminated a pregnancy, with Drum Magazine sourcing her records from a clinic. Bonang took the magazine to the ombudsman, and they were ordered to apologise to her, but never did.

“Sometimes you can be going through the best and the worst times, all at the same time, and that’s what 2012 was for me, because a part of my personal life was falling apart, while the best part of my career was falling into place.”

“I never anticipated how badly I would be treated when the story of my breakup was leaked. It was one of the most painful experiences and sometimes I am not sure how I survived.”

“I was embarrassed, humiliated and ill-prepared in how to deal with my very first scandal. To this day, I am called a liar.”
