It was a night to remember for thousands of fans as DJ Black Coffee performed at New York’s famed Madison Square Garden.

The 47-year-old DJ made history when he became the first South African DJ and producer to perform at Madison Square Garden in New York on Saturday.

The KwaZulu-Natal-born artist was supported by the amapiano twin duo of Major League DJz with a number of special appearances from other country exports Oskido, Msaki and Mondli Ngcobo among others.

Performance hailed
Fans took to social media as they hailed the DJ’s performance and making South Africa proud.
“Black Coffee and Bucie gave us Superman remix live,” posted Starpush2 on X (formally Twitter).
The Instigator on X praised Black Coffee for his performance.

Earlier, Department of Sport, Arts and Culture Minister Zizi Kodwa sent his apologies to Black Coffee, for not being able to attend his history-making performance at Madison Square Gardens in New York City.
“I am sorry I could not join you on your big day at Madison Square Gardens, but I join millions of South Africans supporting you on your journey. All the best Mashiane, Zukuzela, Masiyana. You continue to represent South Africa well.

In April this year, Black Coffee was among the South African Grammy award winners honoured by the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture for achievement on the global stage.
