Ever since news of Avicii’s death was confirmed on Friday night, thousands of fans and high-profile personalities from across the global have sent tributes to the Swedish DJ.
Taking to Instagram, DJ Black Coffee reflected on how he and Avicii were chatting just two weeks ago about a collaboration.
Black Coffee shared screenshots of their WhatsApp conversation with fans on the social media platform. Avicii was excited about experimenting with gqom beats.
“I also played with gqom rythms after you showed me a couple of songs. And a huge part of inspiration last three weeks (in) writing sessions have been African rythms,” he said.
Black Coffee labelled Avicii a legend, saying that they were talking about a collab.
“Life is fragile … Just last week I was chatting with you and Shaun Duvet about working together, excited about being inspired by your recent visit in South Africa. Thank you for sharing your gift with us legend. Death be not proud,” he said.
DJ Fresh, who was a part of Avicii’s 2012 tour to SA, also paid tribute to him through a series of videos and pictures on Instagram.
The 28-year-old’s death was confirmed through a press statement on Friday night. He was found dead while on holiday in Muscat, Oman and his cause of death has not yet been released.
