On April 8 Beyoncé Knowles, during a visit to the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum in New York City, dropped Ngxokolo’s name in a photo post on her personal website.
Two of Ngxokolo’s Spring/Summer 2016 designs are at the museum until August for an exhibition featuring world design, and Beyoncé was clearly impressed.
Ngxokolo shared his excitement for being mentioned by Bey in a tweet, which SA’s own Queen B, Bonang Matheba retweeted. This of course meant that Laduma Ngxokolo trended on Twitter for a bit.
Ngxokolo’s MaXhosa brand is on the tipping point. He has already broken into the Japanese fashion market and has shown his work globally. With Beyoncé’s endorsement it’s not likely to slow down for Ngxokolo any time soon.
