LeBron James is the first pro athlete to enter the Barbie universe as a Ken doll.

Basketball player LeBron James has broken many records in his illustrious career playing in the NBA.

He has gone from surpassing the great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the leading scorer in the NBA to smashing Michael Jordan’s record of 563 30-point games and to being the only player to score 40 points against all 30 NBA teams.

However, no one expected one of the game’s most competitive players to break the record of being the first pro athlete to enter the Barbie universe as a Ken doll.

“LeBron James is the first-ever Barbie Kenbassador, recognising his positive impact on culture, style and community,” read the statement shared on the LeBron James Family Foundation social media pages.

On Wednesday, in collaboration with the manufacturers of Barbie, Mattel, the LeBron James Family Foundation announced that LeBron will be the first professional athlete to have a Ken doll released in his likeness.

In their statement, the basketball players’ foundation reflected on his journey from “humble inner-city beginnings” to becoming a basketball legend and activist, vowing to give back to the community that raised him.

“LeBron and his foundation have rolled up their sleeves to create real generational change, exemplifying what it means to be a true MVP,” concluded the statement.

The doll, already available for sale online, costs $75, which is just below R1 500.
