Ba2cada to sue police after ‘assault’

Lesedi FM’s DJ Ba2cada, real name Nyakallo Leine, is allegedly suing Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa after an altercation with police officers over a traffic fine.

Leine has claimed that two police officers from Zamdela township in Sasolburg, Free State “kicked and punched” him before taking him to the holding cells last year, City Press reported.

According to the report Leine was a passenger in a friend’s car when they were stopped by two police officers for reckless driving in the Sasolburg. When the police tried to issue a fine to the driver, an altercation between the radio DJ and one of the policemen allegedly erupted. Leine claims he was ‘beaten up’ by the officers.

Last year the Sasolburg Magistrates’ Court found the DJ guilty for interfering with a police officer’s duties. He was sentenced to a five-year suspended jail time.

Free State Police spokesperson Superintendent Annelie Wrensch confirmed to City Press that Leine had opened a case of common assault and filed a lawsuit against the two Zamdela police officers. The case is reportedly going to be heard in the Bloemfontein High Court sometime next week.
