Joburg was yet to vote for its new mayor and already there were “floor crossers”, according to rapper and ANC supporter Kiernan “AKA” Forbes. Taking to Twitter on Monday, he shared with his fans that he had been with Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa to discuss “the future of the youth”.
He further tweeted about the ANC’s loss of votes in Joburg, saying the party would rise again.
“Let’s focus on what we can do better. How we can get stronger and keep our eyes on 2019.”
What was happening in Joburg was democracy that the leaders had put in place for South Africa. In fact, AKA says that what was happening was good for the “movement”, to get rid of the “parasites” and “floor crossers” who were already showing themselves.
“Now is not the time to hide as an ANC supporter. Now is the time where your visibility and voice mean the most. Let’s rebuild.”
The Now Congratulate Me hit maker further sarcastically congratulated “those who have won their new positions”. Now let’s see them “govern” and how they do, he said.
Though the Supa Mega did not mention any names, we could not help but think his tweets were directed at musician and ANC supporter Arthur Mafokate, who even surprised EFF leader Julius Malema when he congratulated DA mayoral candidate Herman Mashaba on Twitter.
“Wow! Bra Herman Mashaba who used to sponsor us as dancers is about to be a Mayor of the most powerful city in Africa #JoburgMayor, he tweeted, further saying the Julius that he knew would not take any “nonsense” from any person that he donated his votes to, “watch the space”.
Even his followers were surprised, saying the Jaiva Yoyo hit maker just makes good financial decisions, and knows where his bread will be buttered.
He says, however, that he is still an ANC supporter, despite what people have said about him. “I take full responsibility of my successes and my failures of my beloved party.”
